Privacy Policy for GA4 Dashboard Chrome Extension
Effective Date: 23.4.2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Jussi Hyvärinen ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in relation to the "GA4 Dashboard" Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). This policy applies solely to the Extension and does not apply to the website jussihyvarinen.com or any other products or services.
1. Information We Access (Not Collected or Stored by Us)
The Extension needs to access certain information to provide its functionality. We want to be clear that the Extension does not collect or store your personal information or your Google Analytics data on our servers. All data processing related to your Google Analytics account happens directly between your browser and Google's servers.
The Extension accesses the following:
- Google Analytics Data: To display your dashboards, the Extension uses Google APIs to access data from the Google Analytics 4 properties you have authorized it to view. This access is strictly read-only (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly scope). The Extension retrieves metrics, dimensions, and report configurations as requested by your interactions within the Extension (e.g., selecting a property or changing a date range) and displays this data solely within the Extension interface in your browser. This data is NOT sent to our servers.
- Google User Authentication: To securely access your Google Analytics data on your behalf, the Extension uses Chrome's Identity API (chrome.identity) to facilitate the standard Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) process. This allows you to grant the Extension permission to access your Google Analytics data. The Extension receives an authentication token from Google, which is used solely to make authorized requests to Google's Analytics APIs on your behalf. This token is managed by your browser and Google; it is not stored or transmitted by us.
2. Information Stored Locally (On Your Device)
To improve your user experience, the Extension stores minimal configuration data locally on your computer using Chrome's standard storage mechanisms (chrome.storage.local). This may include:
- Last Selected Property ID: The ID of the last Google Analytics property you viewed so it can be pre-selected the next time you open the Extension.
This locally stored data remains on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
3. How We Use Accessed Information
The information accessed by the Extension is used solely for the following purposes:
- To authenticate you with your Google Account via Google's secure OAuth flow.
- To fetch and display your requested Google Analytics 4 data within the Extension's dashboard interface.
- To remember your last selected property for convenience.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not share any information accessed by the Extension with any third parties, except for the direct interaction with Google's APIs required for authentication and data fetching. Your Google Analytics data and authentication tokens are handled directly between your browser and Google. We do not have access to your specific Google Analytics data or your Google account credentials.
5. Data Security
We rely on the security measures provided by Google Chrome, the Chrome Extension platform, and Google's APIs to protect the data accessed during authentication and API requests. Configuration data stored locally is protected by standard browser security mechanisms.
6. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
8. Contact Us
